Try at your own risk.
Iconic footwear brand Converse have been innovating new materials and techniques like crazy recently to make wearing your Cons perfect for any and every situation, no matter who you are. We saw them release a new reflective range to keep safety front of mind when you're exercising at dusk or dawn, dancing, busking… the list goes on.
This time, the creators of the All-Stars have dished out a new line that seemingly deals better with the world's constant dealings with climate change — presenting, the Converse Counter Climate Shield collection, created using water-repellent canvas, waterproof neoprene and non-slip materials to help "combat the climate shifts".
Well, what can we say — we've ALL been waiting for the day that water stops seeping through the little eyelets in our Chucks and making our socks soggy. But we also thought, hey, this makes doing stupid stuff so much easier…

We didn't say they were gonna be mature things, did we? We miss the days we could go gallivanting through the puddles like some Australian Paddington Bear, with not a care in the world. No need to dig out your old Wish Wellingtons; the All Star II Shield Canvas range offers a Nike Lunarlon sockliner, non-slip padded tongue, reflective heels and no more medial eyelets for optimal rainy day fun.
Caveat: obviously you can't let your mates know you've bought waterproof sneakers and are gonna come out of this totally unscathed. Also, yes, this is kinda wasteful but if you've got a good bunch of mates, who knows, maybe they'll buy you another when they see your dry-as-hell tootsies.
For… science?
One of the worst feelings is having to wash a car in winter and freezing your feet off in the process. (I wouldn't know, I wash my car with warm water.) (Just joking, who does that?) (Me, because my car is my #1.) These kicks will for sure keep your feet dry as the hose splashes around your feet, but as for the rest of your body — Converse are taking no responsibility there.
No slipping here when you go right-hand-red and left-foot-green! TAKE THAT!
The Converse Counter Climate Shield collection is out now at selected Converse stores and on www.converse.com.au from RRP $130.
