Five minutes with Anthony Breslin.

If you could live in any decade of history, when would it be? It depends on what I was in that decade. If I was a revered artist perhaps Florence in around 1400. If I was broke and had no desire to work or be conventional, San Francisco, age 20, 1968 – yeah man!

What is the most recent dream you've had? Every night at the moment I seem to have lots of varying dreams that are all very confrontational as my life at the moment is full of big challenges. But anyway, amidst these dreams a man appeared to me with a beard and he just stared at me for a long time with this amazing peaceful reassuring look on his face – it was very comforting. I woke up and thought maybe he was a spirit guide from Fitzroy but I am not sure if he had a neck tattoo or not.

What inspires you artistically? kids drawings, to old people holding hands. I get caught up in the feeling that is like a sigh without a sound and that feeling catapults me into an idea that feels like it could be a vessel for that soundless sigh. Know what I mean?

Do you have a pre-show ritual for Trybe? The ritual will be to get to the theatre early, breathe, breathe, don't think about the box office sales, breathe, breathe, stretch, worry about being self conscious on stage, breathe, breathe… Worrying that I don't know what I am doing, that I will accidently spill paint everywhere, or miss my cues, breathe breathe… What, we are on already? Yikkkkkessss!
