No Money Weekend
Attention all cheapskates and cheap dates.. An important part of being an adult is learning how to manage a budget. When you learn how to do that, please let us know because we still haven't figured it out. We prefer this method: lose track of how much money you're spending on everything, end up broke by Friday afternoon, and rely on the $10 in spare change you found on the floor of your car (more life advice: don't clean your car) to get you through the weekend. When you've been making do on a tenner every weekend you learn pretty quickly how to avoid doing expensive shit, so we're here to share our learnings with you. Think of us as that token, wise older sibling that's been around forever and always knows where to go to score... free stuff.  (Image: Chloe) JUST WHAT THE DOCTOPUS ORDERED If you like seeing bands that are energetic, talented but still not afraid to take the piss out of themselves, Doctopus are for you. Video: WAAX - Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom Teeth packs a punch but the feeling doesn't last for long.. It's not everyday someone writes a song about wisdom teeth. Those teeth that everyone dreads being told you have to get out because you'll end up looking like a chipmunk afterwards. And that's what WAAX's latest track Wisdom Teeth is about and they've got a completely unrelated music video to boot, which is no less a fun and colouful time at the rock show. Wisdom Teeth is a clean-cut rock track that attempts to get in your face with it's meaty riffs and Marie De Vita's snarling vocals, and it does so with a fair amount of success, although at times the clean production sees the track lack that raw energy. Indeed, much like when you get your wisdom teeth ripped out it smarts for a brief period but over time it drifts from your mind. The music video - with it's heavily edited chopping style and constantly shifting colours - does enhance the punch of the track, and you can check it out below: Follow on WAAX: FACEBOOK

New Music: Tempura Nights - Whine (EP)
Tempura Night bring the scuzzy garage pop in their debut EP Whine.. Tempura Nights formed out of Go Violets (RIP) and Major Leagues by distilling the pop sensibilities of Go Violets into the more sombre Major Leagues and then throwing in a dash of rough garage to create Tempura Nights. Hailing from Brisbane they are part of the vibrant garage rock / pop scene but unlike the more aggressive WAAX or the garage-pop of The Creases they've delved into punchy garage rock with dark undertones. Indeed, listening through their EP vocally their is a strength to how the words leap out of their mouth that is similar to UK singer Anna Calvi.  Whine, Tempura Nights' debut EP offers a light pop edge like in their opening track, R.I.P. CHIX as they shout, 'The sweetest girls, the sweetest girls, the sweetest girls!' Against a brash drum beat and pummeling guitars. And again in the opening of Child Model with those playful guitars licks but its underbelly adds a depth to that pop sheen. Brainroof empit
