Mixtape: Hudson Mohawke, Valentine’s Day Slow Jams VIII
Stream / download a steamy new mix from Scottish loverman HudMo.. "Lay back, and let Hudson Mohawke take you away..." 29-year-old Glasgwegian producer Hudson Mohawke, the producer and one half of TNGHT, has been busy working on a follow up to his Chimes EP, and has also been putting in work producing for Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis, and singer Antony Hegarty, producing Hegarty’s album. "The album I’m producing for Anthony is really cool as fuck," he told NME recently. But he’s not been too busy to neglect a very special tradition: for eight years now, HudMo has released a love-themed mix on Valentines’ Day every year; and it’s always a corker. Slow Jams VIII is no different: kicking off with a big, jazzy, live-sounding version of Can’t Hide Love by the original casanova D'Angelo, the mix also features Klymaxx, Bill Withers and Stephanie Mills: it’s the perfect mix between slinky disco grooves, Whitney Houston style big pop, and soulful R & B – with a bunch of gunshots and HudMo I

10/10 Would Listen: Flower Drums
Flower Drums' lead singer Leigh Craft selects some dreamy jams for us.. Flower Drums are putting out some of the nicest, warmest garage-pop we’ve heard in ages. They're like Perth's answer to Toro Y Moi or Washed Out. As we enter into 2015, Pilerats are keeping a firm ear on this four-piece from Perth, who had a winner of a year in 2014, performing at Laneway Festival and giving us two super strong tracks: Bad Websites, and Don’t Wait, the latter featuring vocals from fellow WA artist St. South. Flower Drums have an EP due out next month; and we’re expecting it to make quite the splash, particularly with the current Australian music climate really embracing vocal-driven harmonies with an electronic backbone as per Flower Drums’ style (with Chet Faker being the case in point here). Flower Drums’ lead singer Leigh Craft has great taste in music – his personal Facebook page is always filled with great picks from left-field artists and rising talents. Leigh’s put together ten songs he’s v

New Music: London - Juice (AObeats remix)
US producer pumps up the tropical-vibes with new remix.. Taking influence from the likes of Hudson Mohawke (catch our interview with him HERE), Cashmere Cat and Just Blaze, US-born producer AObeats has released a stellar new remix, flipping London’s tune Juice on its head and packing it full of tropical vibes. With his typical hip hop overtones evident throughout the track, AObeats transforms the original a capella into a future-esque, chilled-out track, overflowing with tropical xylophone, circling synth, some funky percussion and a heap of bass to top it all off. It’s a definite tune and up for free download HERE. Follow A0BEATS: FACEBOOK

New Music: Rabit - Bloody Eye
New experimental electronica from Houston-based producer Rabit.. Tri Angle Records, whose guiding motto as music curators is "haunted by the need to find things that will haunt us", have birthed a number of high-profile releases (as far as weirder, non-convential beat music goes, in any case) over the past couple of years: artists such as Evian Christ (whom we experienced live at our music festival, CIRCO, in the festival's initial year), Forest Swords, How To Dress Well and many more left-leaning artists we really respect. Next thing coming up for this awesome label is an EP release - Baptizm - from Rabit, a grime producer from the US, who has this really distinct, mechanical sound that instantly draws you in, and has been one of the key young producers spearheading the genre's resurgence in recent years. The EP will be Rabit's debut on the label, probably his most high profile release, too, although he's been cranking out mixtapes and 12"s for a minute now, and in 2013 had a nice fea

New Music: Human Movement – Paradise feat. Eliza Sol
Sydney-based duo Human Movement unleash some serious heat on their newest tune.. After conquering a guest mix on Skrillex’s NESTHQ label, Sydney-based dance duo Blake Gilray and Edward Macdonald AKA Human Movement have released an absolute ripper of a track in the form of the six-minute long Paradise feat. Eliza Sol. Sticking to their minimalistic, dark vibes, the boys have incorporated hard-hitting bass with the eery, shadowy voice of singer Eliza Sol and created a bloody belter of a tune, one that they’ve been so kind to give up for free HERE. Of the tune, the lads had this to say: "We really tried to focus more on the overall flow and progression of the track, we weren't satisfied with the standard kick - snare/clap minimal percussion banger...wanting to keep the track under a dark and minimalistic vibe, while retaining an emotive element. It worked out really well when our good friend Eliza ( who we didn't know even sang!) came into the studio and nailed that "human" element we had

New Music: fLako: Kuku EP Stream + Video
Listen to London producer fLako's intriguing new Chilean-soul influenced beats.. fLako - Dario Rojo Guerra - is a German-raised, London-based producer, with Chilean roots, that’s been making incredible, mystical and atmospheric music for a while now. International music tastemaker Gilles Peterson once rated fLako as the ‘most highly rated emerging producer’ out right now. For some reason though; he seems to keep a low profile most of the time; despite being up there with producers such as Lapalux, or Flying Lotus, when it comes to his talent for making wonky electronic tracks. However, that looks set to change; with a new EP out now, and debut full-length on the way. It’s been nearly three years since fLako’s last EP Eclosure, although we were lucky enough to get a big dose of fLako via his work on Eglo Records' singer Fatima’s debut album, Yellow Memories, that came out on Eglo, as well as the B Side on her incredible Family / La Neta 12” – Black Dough (listen HERE).
