Sable

The 2014 Radiothon is taking over four Northbridge venues for an epic pledge drive kick-off.. Perth institution RTRFM is an entirely self-funded enterprise, and each year for 10 days the radio station calls on you, the listeners, to give a little back over the course of a 10-day Radiothon Pledge Drive. One of the many ways you can do it (check HERE for all the details) is simply by attending the 2014 Radiothon Party, going down Friday August 15 across four Northbridge venues - The Bakery, The Bird, Ya Ya's and Flyrite. Each venue hosts four unique line-ups, featuring some of Perth's best and brightest: THE BAKERY - Savoir, Rainy Day Women, Kučka, Davey Craddock & The Spectacles and The Weapon is Sound. YA YA's - Dream Rimmy, Loners, HAMJAM and Hideous Sun Demon.

We got our kawaii bass on with Circo's finest.. With CIRCO Festival right around the corner (it's tomorrow!) we thought it was high time that everyone got to know the new-wave electronic maestro that is Basenji, or Sebastian Carlos as he is known to his friends. And with his friends including Wave Racer, our own Sable and Cosmo's Midnight it's hard not to get excited about the potential. With that in mind Liam Apter shot off a few questions to Sebastian in which they discussed his side-project with Wave Racer, signing to Future Classic, the poor quality sound systems of many venues and he may have hinted at possible collaboration with the aforementioned furry fiend Sable?

So kawaii, so bass.. Our absolute favourite pairing in the whole wide world continues today, with Sydney beatbrain Basenji unleashing his first official remix - taking to Sable's new single Foolin'. It follows Sable's remix a few weeks back of Basenji's Speak With A Dofflin (listen to/download that HERE), and turns Foolin' into a slightly more chilled affair, holding tight to a 1am groove before unloading into some super-happy-fun-time bounce: You can download it for free, and catch both artists at the upcoming Circo Festival (details HERE).

The kawaii bromance that keeps on giving.. The keen beans out there who gave Alison Wonderland's mix for Diplo & Friends for BBC1 a spin may have heard this already, but now it's out officially and to download for free. We're incredibly excited about the prospect of Basenji and Sable working together (we cannot wait to show off Basenji's Foolin' remix), and Sable's re-do of Basenji's Speak With A Dofflin is all kinds of great:

After a seemingly endless wait, and about 1000 blog posts speculating on who would be on the line-up, who wouldn't, whose fake poster was the best and what Outkast were doing, Splendour In The Grass finally shut everyone the hell up and just announced the damn thing. And of course, it's all killer and zero filler. Sable is taking his good feels around Australia.. The apple in our eye, the spring in our step, the icing on our cake, the ketchup on our chips (you get the idea)... We're very excited today to announce WA young gun Sable has just announced his first national tour, taking the Feels So Good EP around the country this April/May for a run of dates that is probably coming to a town/city near you. Eyegasms for your eargasms.. With Sable - Feels So Good recently clocking up over 100,000 plays on Soundcloud, we figured it was time it received a visual accompaniment, and our very first Pilerats Records release gone and done just that with a video clip that premiered over at RunTheTrap THIS MORNING. The clip itself does the very best it can in capturing the whizz fizz vs cola vibes that Jersey bounce all over the hyperactive sunbeam-synth shreds, some of which are surely going to be found on his 5-track EP, due for release on February 14th. We figured you better get to know this legend a little better.. Last week we had the pleasure of sharing our first ever release on Pilerats Records, Sable - Feels So Good. Since that time it's clocked up over 30,000 plays on Soundcloud, a couple of thousand free downloads, and a heap of love from the likes of What So Not and Nina Las Vegas. Sooooo we're feeling pretty good about it right now. With Pilerats Records our main aim is showcase great music from great people, and John Dewhurst (as his mum calls him), is great people.
