Album Review: Sable - Hypercolour

While Crush’s melody line is ultra-repetitive, its rapid, oriental-infused tones are a nice touch.

Though Sable offers some intricate beat patterns on Hypercolour, it often feels too samey. He employs a simple fade in, fade out approach to dynamics in each song, which doesn't help to distinguish him as a producer. There's a sincere playfulness to opening tracks You Too and Dreamer, which crank out those shimmering synth effects and video-game samples (you can clearly hear the 'ding-ding' of the Nintendo coin sound). However, they're too similar in structure. While Crush's melody line is ultra-repetitive, its rapid, oriental-infused tones are a nice touch.
