Some serious upgrades coming to Victorian venues.

The 2018 Good Music Neighbours grant recipients have been announced, with the Victorian state government giving 21 venues across the city funding to help better control their sound emissions and keep the local community happy.

Returning for a third year, the 2018 round has seen more than $250,000 distributed to venues from Brunswick East to Ballarat East, with The Brunswick Hotel, The Esplanade Hotel and more named.

The funds will assist each venue differently, with some upgrading in order to host more gigs, while others install acoustic panelling, insulation or double glazing.

“We thank the State Government for its continued investment in live music through the Music Works program,” Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan said.

The Espy will use its $25,000 to give its iconic Gershwin Room a serious acoustic update ahead of the venue's reopening.

Previous grant recipients include The Tote and Corner Hotel, both of whom were also part of the state government’s $22 million Music Works initiative.
