The lease holder for popular Sydney live music bar, The Bald Faced Stag, has been removed following allegations that some of the bands who performed at the venue in the last year have been left out of pocket by thousands of dollars.
The Music can exclusively reveal that the Leichhardt venue's landlord, Marvan Hotels, removed Ulladulla Property Services Ltd from the business for abandonment and non-payment of rent last Saturday (20 January).
A source from The Bald Faced Stag who wishes to remain anonymous has alleged to The Music that US band The Dillinger Escape Plan and Melbourne's The Peep Tempel, who both performed at the venue last October, are owed $40,000 and $10,000 respectively.
"We have been made aware that various shows that were held at the Stag over the last ten months including The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Peep Tempel have been left chasing the pre-sale ticket money they are owed for their sell out shows at The Stag by Ulladulla Property Services...

"Along with those numerous other local artists, bands and promoters that performed at the venue in the last ten months have been left chasing performance fees and pre-sale ticket money.
"We aren't aware of specific figures for all outstanding monies owed, but as far as we are concerned the fact there is outstanding amounts to artists is completely unacceptable and not how The Bald Faced Stag has done business previous to Ulladulla Property Services leasing the Stag or will do business moving forward."
The Music has contacted The Dillinger Escape Plan and The Peep Tempel for comment.
The Stag has confirmed it will not be closing despite the lease holder's departure and it will honour all booked future gigs.
Upcoming gigs at the Stag include Saliva, Stateside and Fullscale.

The Bald Faced Stag Hotel has been leased from the period 20/3/17 to 20/1/18 by Ulladulla Property services Pty Ltd headed by its General Manager Scott Allwyn Mackenzie.
Ulladulla Property Services was evicted from the Stag Hotel last week due to arrears in rent and concerns raised from other sources.
It's of concern that Ulladulla Property Services did not meet its obligations to suppliers and particularly bands who are the lifeblood of the venue.
The Bald Faced Stag Hotel will currently be run by its landlord who has a proven track record of managing the hotel between 2015 to 2017.
Whilst under new management, all future suppliers obligations will be met and The Bald Faced Stag Hotel looks forward to a renewed relationship with the music industry.
