Festivals. They're a cesspit of music, booze and general debauchery. It's why we love them so dearly. As for hook-up locations? We don't know. Deflated air mattresses, blocked portaloos or just dropping trousers in the mosh doesn't exactly get us hot and bothered. Not to mention the thought of getting glitter all up in our business. That shit never comes out. Add in a Coachella-sized herpes spike and it's enough to join a convent.
But hey, maybe you're down! No judgement here! The heart wants what the heart wants, am I right? And we're all for a festival romance. What is it about those wide-brimmed hats that makes the general population 99% hotter? It's the great mystery of our time. (Note to self: buy hat.)
One study showed that roughly 33.6% of surveyed punters have had sex at a festival. On top of that, 50.2% were open to a fling. It's also no secret that technology has revolutionised (or decimated - guess it depends on your relationship status) the dating game. Tinder activity increased a whopping 300% at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in the States.
But hooking up at a festival is hard work right? Far gone are the days of locking eyes in the line while waiting for an over-priced, mid-strength beer and finding, as ol' mate Osher Gunsberg would say, "a meaningful connection". We've had to resort to lowering the radius on our app to the <1km option like the desperados we are. But no longer...
Rejoice, horny music lovers, because the Tinder gods listened to your cries and are here to make the admin behind festival portaloo banging a whole lot easier. It's Festival Mode, baby!
The gist is pretty simple. Your profile will now include a "Festival Mode" badge where users can add the upcoming festivals they'll be attending and connect with others who will also be there. You know, so you can add that Byron hipster to your festival-prepping to-do list. We're all about that organisation here. Sets to see, people to do, etc.

The new feature is currently rolling out for some of the largest music festivals across the US and UK. Partnering with Live Nation and AEG Worldwide, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Parklife, plus a whole lot more are already on board, but there's no word yet as to when we'll see it Down Under. However, there is apparently "exciting news to come about a partnership with a popular Australian festival", to which we can only say, Splendid.
