'Lion' Cleans Up, Aussie Comic Scores Gong: The Big Winners Of The 2017 AACTA Awards

Complete domination.

Last night's AACTA Awards saw complete domination from Oscar-nominated film Lion which won all twelve of its nominated awards. 

The 2016 biographical drama took out the night's big awards, including Best Film, Best Direction (Aussie filmmaker Garth Davis) Best Supporting Actor (Dev Patel), Best Supporting Actress (Nicole Kidman) and Best Lead Actor (Sunny Pawar).

Lion also picked up the awards for Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Original Music Score, Best Costume Design, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design and Best Editing.

Sydney-raised Kidman was also awarded Best Guest Or Supporting Actress for her work in Top Of The Lake: China Girl, which also won Best Television Drama Series.

Meanwhile, Melbourne comic Celia Pacquola was recognised for her work in ABC's Rosehaven, taking out the award for Best Performance In A Television Comedy.
