More The Church More The Church

Veteran Sydney outfit The Church are only a month-and-a-half or so from kicking off their eagerly awaited double-header Further/Deeper — The Blurred Crusade tour, and they're ramping up the pre-sojourn excitement with the unveiling of the video for new single Laurel Canyon, proudly premiering on theMusic.com.au today!

The new work marks the third single release from 2014 full-length Further/Deeper, following hot on the heels of well-received earlier cuts Pride Before A Fall and Vanishing Man. The clip itself sneakily straddles multiple worlds, its stark, slow-mo monochrome narrative sporadically utilising footage of the band shot at Brisbane's nascent venue The Triffid in conjunction with titular and lyrical references to the Hollywood suburb of Laurel Canyon, which has come to be regarded as something of an inspirational hub for iconic US musos such as Joni Mitchell, The Doors, Frank Zappa, The Byrds, and Crosby, Nash, Stills & Young. It's an artful, glacial, moving experience, and it comes highly recommended by all here at theMusic.com.au, and not just because we're presenting their forthcoming sojourn around the country (honest).

Speaking of which, The Church's Further/Deeper — The Blurred Crusade tour kicks off at their video location of The Triffid, in Brisbane, on Saturday, 4 July — a date they have just sold out — and takes in dates in Melbourne, Adelaide, Margaret River, Bunbury and Perth. An additional date, in Hobart, had been planned, but the band has since had to cancel that showing — sorry, Tasmanians.

For everyone else, if you're after more information about any of the dates, venues or other booking details for the tour, see theGuide or check The Music App.
