It Seems Like Ed Sheeran Will Probably Announce An Australian Tour Soon

It seems VERY MUCH like that, actually

More Ed Sheeran More Ed Sheeran

UPDATE 2: Sheeran and Frontier have now released an image advertising an announcement to take place at 12.01am (AEST) tomorrow, 10 May. WONDER WHAT IT'LL BE.

UPDATE: Both Sheeran and Frontier have since posted another, updated picture of the same blue background with the ÷ (Divide) logo superimposed atop it featuring a small kangaroo and kiwi bird in the division symbol's dots.

ORIGINAL STORY: Given that he's spent the past nine weeks atop the ARIA charts with his third album, ÷ (Divide), it's safe to say that Australians love themselves some Ed Sheeran.

As praised as he is deeply polarising, if ever there was a time for Sheeran to capitalise on Divide's momentum and unbroken #1 status, it would be now — before the ARIA charts fundamentally change the way they measure results — right?

Frontier Touring certainly seem to think so, having updated their Facebook profile picture overnight to strongly resemble the artwork for Sheeran's record-breaking (and just a little bit familiar) single, Shape Of You.

They also, apropos nothing, posted a tweet referencing Sheeran's tune Galway Girl, along with an emoji of the, erm, Ivory Coast flag (Irish is green-white-orange, not orange-white-green).

Sheeran tested the local waters back in February, when he performed two exclusive shows to support the album's then-upcoming release.

He's now in the midst of "world tour" duties for the album, which look to keep him tied up till at least November, as he's presently in Europe and now has South and North America alike to get through.

However, he was just announced to play Singapore Stadium on 11 November, which puts him in the right region, at the right time, to follow on to come to Australia in the wake (or lead-up?) to that show, so we'd say there's a strong chance that he'll be here towards the end of the year.

(Count him out for the AFL Grand Final, at least, as he's playing Brooklyn the day of that game, 30 September.)

Keep your eyes peeled for more news on the Sheeran front in the near future — we'd all but guarantee there's some on the way.
