EXCLUSIVE: Smack Face Records Signs Services Deal With Create/Control

Brisbane-based independent label and artist management services provider Smack Face Records have joined forces with renowned indie institution Create/Control to create a new partnership, through which Smack Face will operate as an independent part of the C/C family.

The deal will see Create/Control — the eclectically occupied home of artists such as Badbadnotgood, Circa Waves, PVT and Rolls Bayce — lend its experienced helping hand to Smack Face for distribution and label services from January, effectively freeing the latter's small but hard-working team to focus on physical growth and market expansion, not just in Australia but around the world.

It's been a big year of business for the Paul Piticco-led Create/Control, who in the past twelve months have inked deals of varying descriptions for artists including (but not limited to) Oisima, Daniel Lee Kendall, Caitlin Park and Brit legends New Order.

Smack Face has enjoyed a pretty gangbusters year in kind, cementing an Australia/New Zealand deal with US outfit The Growlers earlier this year, as well as welcoming into the fold fellow American rockers The Coathangers, back in August.

All Smack Face releases will be handled by Create/Control from January 2015.
