The new deal will see his debut LP released in September

Rising Central Coast troubadour Daniel Lee Kendall has a fresh feather to stick in his stylish cap following today’s announcement that the ascendant muso has signed with renowned Aussie label Create/Control, with a view to the release of his debut LP later this year.

“If you're going to work with somebody, you have to feel understood,” Kendall said of the signing. “You not only have to be free to be yourself, you have to feel that freedom.

“I have felt that with Create/Control."

Expected to drop on Friday, September 12, the long-awaited studio full-length, Daniel Lee Kendall Is Dead, is preceded by the release of first single Under A Spell, due out this coming Monday, July 21.

Kendall’s management team, David Morgan and Regan Lethbridge, have consequently expressed their pride in, and pleasure for, Kendall, with whom they have been working since February.

"We're thrilled to be working with the awesome team at Create/Control to release Daniel Lee Kendall's debut record,” Morgan and Lethbridge told theMusic.com.au. “DLK is a very unique artist, and having the experienced team at C/C believing in these songs as much as we do is a massive win."

Under A Spell will enjoy its Aussie premiere on triple j’s weekly Sunday-night 2014 show with Richard Kingsmill before its official release on Monday, but, in the interim, here’s some seriously classic-era DLK, from way back in 2009, before he grew that glorious mane that he’s so effortlessly rocking these days.

DLK has already put out new(ish) work this year, with revitalised, re-imagined old demo Angelique being the first to bring new life to a selection of tracks long left to gather dust in the annals of his hard drive. Still, we’re more than ready for the debut full-length — keep your eyes on his Facebook page for pre-order details and new developments.
