The wrath of 'Throw Me In The River' continues

With The Smith Street Band’s third long-player, Throw Me In The River, landing triple j’s feature album and receiving praise around the world, the Melbourne indie punk rockers have debuted at #18 on the ARIA charts.

Midweek figures raised excitement, hinting that the local lads would crack the Top 20, and today’s figures secure them a rightly deserved debut for a record we gave Album Of The Week.

There’s plenty of other Australian love in the charts with Hilltop Hoods hanging in there and moving up to #8 with Walking Under The Stars, Flight Facilities getting #10 and Missy Higgins at #29.

Making her Perth debut last night on the first date of a massive Australian tour, it's unsurprising that Katy Perry’s Prism sits at #32, with The Rolling Stones classic Grrr! just scraping in at #40, following the cancellation of their show at Hanging Rock.

With Foo Fighter’s new record dropping on Monday, punters have been soaking up some quality rock through their Greatest Hits, which jumped back into the charts at #15, and, of course, Taylor Swift’s 1989 hold first place for it second week, with Ed Sheeran holding onto #4 again.

Another notable mentions go to Stereosonic headliner Calvin Harris who claimed #3, and Slipknot at #7.

You can catch The Smith Street Band later this month on a tour presented by The Music. Head to the Gig Guide or The Music App for all dates and other info.
