Katy Perry Adds 23rd Show To Australian Tour

Tickets for Katy Perry's 18th and 19th (and now 20th the 21st, 22nd and 23rd) Australian shows are now on sale now (three new shows at 4pm) as the pop star continues to sell out arenas in what will almost certainly be the biggest tour down under this year.

Although still a little way off Pink's record, Perry yesterday added dates, and again today, in Sydney and Brisbane to take her tally to five six and four five shows in the cities respectively.

She's also playing seven eight shows in Melbourne and two each in Perth and Adelaide.

Melbourne show #8 takes place 10 December, Sydney show #6 13 December and Brisbane show #5 15 December.

Pink's Australian touring record stands at 58 arena dates, which she completed in 2009, moving 650,000 tickets in the process. Last year she broke her own Melbourne Rod Laver Arena record with 18 sold-out dates.

The Katy Perry tour is promoted by the Dainty Group, with sponsorship backing from Telstra, tickets are on sale through Ticketek.

Telstra had originally offered its users an exclusive pre-sale through controversial ticketing partner BangTango. Telstra uses BangTango to offer its userbase first-option or exclusive ticket packages in exchange for sponsorship to help fund international tours.

An ACCC investigation prompted by BangTango questioned whether leading venue management firm AEG Ogden was forcing them out of the market by not allowing them a big enough ticket allocation to make it worth Telstra's investment is believed to have finished, with AEG Ogden cleared of any fault.

Telstra and BangTango have also held pre-sales for Michael Bublé and Bon Jovi.
