Hansard finished up the night with a collaborative version of The Auld Triangle, a last nod to St Patrick’s Day that culminated in the audience in its entirety on their feet.

For an established group, having formed in 1998 and out touring their seventh studio album, The Silver Gymnasium, there was a refreshing quality to Okkervil River’s performance at Oxford Art Factory.

"The show lacked a certain intimacy that was present when the band played at the Enmore back in 2011, and at times it did feel more like a main stage at a festival."

The show definitely proved Chvrches to be worthy of the hype surrounding them, unleashing an energetic, compulsively danceable set that left their audience reeling.

It was however refreshing to see a band with such a high level of enthusiasm, especially towards the end of such a long tour run.

It was rather on par to seeing Blasko perform at any number of other venues in Sydney, rather than the divine experience the promoters were going for.

GO AND SEE THIS SHOW. IT IS LIFE-AFFIRMING.

As those final notes on All We Ask gave way to absolute silence within the concert hall, it’s no doubt that everyone present realised they had just experienced something truly magical.

It was a little too much lather, rinse, repeat and not enough spontaneity, which resulted in a good concert that could have been great.

Joyful roars of ‘Yo Ho Sebastian!’ throughout the crowd accompanied Jarvis, plucking away at his ukulele, and solidified in many minds just how talented Jarvis is, not only as a performer, but also as a songwriter.
