Newman’s harmonies with Gus Unger-Hamilton were a highlight, with their timing almost robotic. Without physically moving much, Newman gave it his all.

Crowd energy wasn’t where it should have been, but Robert DeLong is a one-man band with a plan, and can execute.

He closed the night with a beautiful Hebrew and Arabic hymn, channeling his Israeli roots and leaving everyone with a sweet taste in their mouth after a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

It felt like a party at Lior’s house.

Overall it was a fun night of new Australian music, but all of these bands can and will play better gigs in the future.

Deep when it needs to be and breezy when it doesn’t, Comfort is an absolute triumph, and Splashh’s short set near-perfect.
