Introducing: The Walking Who
Three young lads on that psych-rock tip.. INTRODUCING: THE WALKING WHO Tell us about yourselves: We are The Walking Who. Three Young Lads who grew up on different ends of the east coast of NSW. Three people with completely different personalities and senses of dress, who came together on a Tuesday the 29th of February, 2010 under a double rainbow, in Wollongong… What kinda tunes we talking?  We talkin' a rock band with psychedelic tendencies. Not psychedelic as in Paisley shirts and Hollow Body Bass Guitars. Instead, an openness to exploring sound, genre bending and generally things that are sonic and special.  Production/writing process.  We start by bunkering down in a house, setting up all our shitty gear ready to record then Jamming out individual people's ideas. After that we listen back, pick out the gems and get to work pulling mad hits out of the mud. At some point there will usually be something recorded through a cassette player, something borrowed from a friend then broken

Introducing: FAIT
Meet Perth solo artist FAIT, celebrating the release of her debut EP, Atmosphere.. INTRODUCING: FAIT Tell us about about yourself? I'm a musician from Perth, I play guitar and piano and I write atmospheric soundscapes. I've just released my debut EP Atmosphere, which was recorded in London and produced by Darren Lawson (MBV, Editors).  What kinda tunes we talkin’? Think big walls of sound comprising of reverb-drenched guitars, strings, piano, driving bass and dramatic drums. If you like The Cure, Boards of Canada or My Bloody Valentine then it might be up your alley. Production/writing process: Layering is key! I start with a guitar riff, then think about a bass line or another guitar melody and build from there. I use Logic Pro to write which is great for experimenting with different sounds and textures. Any shows coming up? Yes, I have a very talented live band onboard who have helped me recreate these tracks in a live setting. We had a show last Friday at The Bakery, we're then at

For the first time ever Sydney’s FBi Radio is launching a national competition - offering one solo producer/artist and one band the chance to go on an epic adventure to the Iceland Airwaves Festival. Previous winners Rainbow Chan and Oliver Tank have embarked on the journey to a festival widely considered a highlight on the international music industry calender. This year it's been extended not only nationally, but to include bands as well. To coincide with the national call-out, FBi Radio has been taking their Music Open Day on the road, in collaboration with community stations around the country. A long-standing monthly fixture on FBi’s calendar, Music Open Day gives local emerging musicians the opportunity to step inside the station and meet with the Music Director and music programming team behind FBi, and seek out advice from various other music industry representatives. It rolled into Brisbane's 4ZZZ last week, before

Wil Wagner Solo Tour
The Smith Street Band frontman is flying solo this August/September.. The Smith Street Band’s Wil Wagner has already had a huge 2014, and it’s about to get even bigger. Between recording the third LP with his band, touring the world and more recently, collaborating with TZU’s Joelistics, Wagner has announced an east coast tour to celebrate his forthcoming solo 12"/EP, due out later this year via Poison City. We love this band, and we love Wil, and are 100% behind this group of rad humans. Before he returns to Europe and the UK, Wagner will set off across the country on his only solo tour for the year, bringing talented young Melbourne musician Georgia Maq along for the ride. The daughter of musician Hugh McDonald of folk-rock group Redgum, Maq grew up surrounded by music and destined for a life on stage. Those dreams are slowly becoming a reality with the release of her debut 7” With A Q via Jackknife Music. Tickets on sale Friday July 11th from Oztix & Corner Hotel Box Office:

Young Franco - Close 2 U EP
The biologically not-recognised third Franco has a couple of killer free tunes for you.. Brisbane boy wonder Young Franco has just calmly dropped some fresh tunes on the world in the form of the Close 2 U EP, a two-tracker featuring the titular tune (plus vocals from Joy), along with Hurricane. The former is a classic slice of piano house, featuring the soothing vocals of fellow Brisbane babe Joy, while the latter starts out pretty chill before slamming down some super-bass vibes. Both are killer, and you can stream 'em below, or even better, download them for free! Young Franco is playing about 24 sets over the course of Splendour In The Grass, so make sure you catch him 'cause he knows how to get you the funk down. Young Franco FACEBOOK // SOUNDCLOUD
