CMJ Dreaming
Acts we’d like to see if we were in New York at the CMJ Music Marathon right now.. While there's an incredibly strong Aussie contingent over at CMJ at the moment (break a leg SAFIA, Fractures, Banoffee, DMA's and errybody else!), we've got pretty bad FOMO for a bunch of international acts we're also missing out on. If you’re based in New York you’re probably not reading this right now because you’re already having the time of your life discovering ALL of the new music at the CMJ Music Marathon, an annual event well known for showcasing every future star the city might have in its veins. While Coachella and Lollapolooza have become global brands worth millions, selling out before tickets are even on sale, and every year new festivals pop up hoping to become the next Coachella or Lollapolooza, one of the biggest and most important festivals to the music industry - not to mention a tastemaking event for the music industry - often gets overshadowed by these music goliaths.  For the uniniti

K-Pop Concert Disaster
16 Dead in K-Pop Concert Catastrophe; plus Five of History’s Worst Live Music Tragedies.. On Friday, 16 young people fell to their deaths when a grate they were standing on collapsed, at a K-Pop Concert in South Korea. Today, the accident has promoted one of the concert organisers, wracked with guilt, to jump off a ten-storey building and commit suicide. 16 people are dead and eight people are dealing with life-threatening injuries after a ventilation grate collapsed underneath an audience at a K-Pop concert in Seongnam, just south of Seoul. K-pop band 4Minute, one of Korea's most beloved and well-known bands, were performing as part of a band showcase when disaster hit. A video recorded by someone at the concert that was shown on the YTN television network showed the band continuing to dance in front of a crowd that appeared to be unaware of the accident. 4Minute’s record label CUBE Entertainment issued a statement saying: “We can’t express how regretful they are for what happened. Video: Shabazz Palaces - Motion Sickness
Mulholland-Drive meets Boogie Nights in new video for trippy avant-rap duo Shabazz Palaces.. Who are Shabazz Palaces? Tendai Maraire and Ishmael Butler from Seattle. What do they do? Make trippy avant-raps with wild drum beats (Ishmael’s on vocals and is the face of SP, while Tendai plays ancient instruments from his homeland, Zimbabwe). What do they do on a par with making trippy avant - raps? Make some of the most engaging, dark and cinematic video clips around, that push the very boundaries of video. We know you’re super busy and only have a limited amount of time each day for music video watching (if any) but you won’t regret using your procrastination allocation to watch the clip for Shabazz Palaces' new track Motion Sickness, directed by TEAN. The clip is cinematic in scope, and Lynchian in style. The narrative follows the daily struggle of a female drug dealer and reality star. She drifts around a vibrantly coloured 70s poolside film set, wrangles with an unrelenting drug addict

Watch Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Noel Gallagher watching TV
Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Noel Gallagher make guest appearance on celebrity edition of British TV-watching show, Gogglebox.. Gogglebox is an award-winning British documentary TV series that kicked off early last year, and is already in its fourth season. The show, which goes for an hour, features ordinary (and sometimes highly opinionated!) British TV viewers - couples, families and friends, sitting in their living rooms watching weekly British television shows, and commenting freely on them.  Recent episodes have witnessed Gogglebox-ers hunker down to cover the Scottish independence referendum and the return of Downton Abbey. The show's become a bona fide smash in the UK, making accidental stars of the (no doubt carefully cast by producers) families involved. Serial wine-gluggers 'Steph' and 'Dom' from Sandwich have virtually become a national institution in the UK, where they are in talks for their own interview franchise. Whilst perhaps this show proves, like Big Brother and eve

New: Pond - Elvis' Flaming Star
The WA psych-rockers go Ziggy Stardust on us, and announce a new album.. One of the most prolific outfits to ever come out of Australia, let alone WA, Pond have announced details for their upcoming sixth studio album, born from the group and a parade of friends taking a couple months worth of mountains of tape stitched together to form Man It Feels Like Space Again. The LP will live up to its wonder-filled title with a collection of warm and fuzzy psychedelic gems, some kind of cosmic mish-mash of The Flaming Lips, MGMT and Supergrass, starting with the single you can listen to/watch below - Elvis' Flaming Star. It drops the heavier-rock vibes we got from their previous album, with an almost '70s-glam-Bowie era rock-pop, that's pretty awesome. They're on tour in the US at the moment, but you can catch them at St Jerome's Laneway Festival NEXT YEAR, just after the new album drops on January 23. Follow Pond: FACEBOOK // SOUNDCLOUD
