One Night With: Kittens
Some slinky rap jams ahead of Kittens' Australian tour.. Lauren 'KITTENS' Abedini has gone from DJing in her bedroom to touring with Kid Cudi, performing with Chief Keef, DJing for Usher and starting LA's most exciting club collective ATHLETIXX - a crew consisting of herself, DJ Hoodboi, Falcons and Promnite. Rocking a special blend of genres from hip hop, trap, future bass, obscure club and more, she's hitting Australia for a run of shows starting February 12, check the dates once you've traversed through a night of tunes with Kittens: "FYI U GUYS: All of these answers are basically hip hop related. While most of my sets are made up of mostly dance music or some form of electronic stuff (whatever you wanna call it), my foundation and heart are married to the rap game lol. So it only makes sense that the most important highlighting tracks of my sets have some connection to that." Numero Uno – What are we starting with? This always depends on a few things. New Music: Paces - Nothing's Forever feat. Kučka
Paces steps it up yet again with WA's own Kučka.. Following a barnstorming 2014 that included a heap of rad singles and remixes, his On My Mind EP, a mainstage set at Splendour and lifting Tkay Maidza to the swaggiest spot on the Hottest 100 of 2014 list - #100 - with his tight production on Switch Lanes, Mikey Perry AKA Paces has kicked off 2015 with a tune that is arguably his best yet - Nothing's Forever feat. WA producer Kučka. They've proved a match made in heaven on this shimmering slice of future-beat, which contains some of the touches we've come to expect from Perry, but also just a general ramping up of the epic-ness after a very subdued beginning. Kučka's vocal work here is also feels slightly different to her output under solo moniker, and it all adds up to perfection. Domestic Bliss - A Clique Arcade Editorial
Ross Wyness shoots Pia and Oli for WA fashion house Clique Arcade.. The Clique Arcade are a new force on the Western Australian fashion scene, putting the focus on indepedent designers and supporting up-and-coming labels. Last week they shot this killer editorial, called Domestic Bliss and featuring emerging models Oli Callisto and Pia Herring. While the look on the models faces doesn't exactly scream "bliss", with the rundown house vibes one gets the feeling that is very much the point. Please enjoy it below, and head along to the Clique Arcade WEBSITE to get amongst it. STYLING Clique Arcade // PHOTOGRAPHY Ross Wyness // MODELS Pia Herring & Oli Callisto Credits: 1. New Music: Lapalux - Closure + Album Announce
Lapalux's second album, Lustmore is coming. Hear a new track.. Back in 2013, when Flying Lotus' experimental beats-driven imprint Brainfeeder first put out producer Stuart Howard, Lapalux’s first proper album of dreamy electronica, Nostalchic, Lapalux was the label's only signing. Now in 2015, Flying Lotus has added 29 acts to the roster, including Jeremiah Jae, Samiyam, Teebs, Tokimonsta, Mono/Poly and more. Lapalux might have been neglected for a minute with all these new talented babies joining Flying Lotus' family (not to mention Flying Lotus being busy making awesome music of his own), but the attention's back on Lapalux today, with the announce of his sophomore album, Lustmore, due out in the states on April 7. A pretty apt title, seeing as though this guy knows how to make some seriously seductive tunes (and also, could the 'more' be a reference to it being his 'sophomore'?). According to a statement released by Lapalux, Lustmore will thematically focus on “hypnogogia, a kind of

Interview: PUCK
Best Metal/Heavy WAM Award winners PUCK talk split EPs with Jack Burton.. After landing themselves Best Metal/Heavy Act at the WA Music (WAM) awards, local legends PUCK have been making some serious waves in the past few months. The Perth-based three-piece have a distinct aesthetic to their sound with slow and heavy riffs, touching on areas of stoner rock, shoegaze and all around heavy goodness. Earlier this week we sat down with Liam, the vocalist and drummer from PUCK, and asked him a few questions about their upcoming split EP and how they’ve been growing as a band. Can you tell us a bit about the members of PUCK and how it started up? It was just me and Steve at first and we were just jamming on new riffs of his that didn’t really sound like riffs that we were writing at the time. It sort of filled itself out just between the two of us enough, and then when we decided to actually start something with it he’d play with a bass amp live. We were a two-piece for ages but then we were

Interview: Galtier
Geelong’s Galtier has an open-faced attitude to production, drawn from years of genre-traversing experience on the DJing circuit, and gathered influences from beyond the Continent.. Geelong-based avant-club producer Galtier (Jiah Wells) is a rarity on the Australian contemporary electronic music scene at the moment; actually adamant on breaking ground and approaching creativity with fierceness rather than formula, to come up with energising, future-forward music that stands out a mile amongst all the generic trap-infused house bangers clubgoers seem to have no problem continually lapping up of late. Galtier challenges convention with his music, and has soldered a style all of his own – but at the same time, it’s not chin-stroking shit, either – this is music with a firm stake in dancefloor action. Unfortunately for many left-minded Australian club music fans, this kind of creative and influential stuff is not embraced nearly as much as it should be by the general listening populace, wi

Video: Montgomery - Not Around
Montgomery busts out another beautiful clip, this time for her latest single, Not Around.. Following her introduction to the Australian/world soundscape in 2014, I OH YOU's most recent signee, Montgomery has released another beautifully shot video clip. Not Around is the follow-up single from her debut track Pinata, both appearing on her debut EP New Clear War. The clip was filmed in the Praga District of Warsaw, Poland and shot on Kodak Super 16mm film - a collaborative effort between herself and director Jessica Lawton, who had this to say on the video: "Inspiration came from the track's natural hinging between the melancholy lyricism and notion of a love gone sour, and the instrumentation that, to me, suggested hope." After being very impressed with her output so far, we're very intrigued as to where the Montgomery project heads in 2015. Follow Montgomery: FACEBOOK / WEBSITE
