Video: Tchami - Promesses
Go storm-chasing to the tune of Tchami's banger, Promesses.. The father of future-house will soon be back in the country for Future Music Festival, and any time we find some news that's Tchami-related is fine by us. This video clip is a couple of weeks old, but we only just stumbled upon it today so we're gonna fucking talk about it. Why? Because it's pretty beautifully shot, and tells a pretty cool (although sadly fictional story) about Oaklahama's Struckist Subculture. What's a struckist? I'm assuming it means someone who chases lightning, because that's what seems to be happening in this video. And what a merry band of misfits they are - tieing forks to their persons, dressing up in full armour, all to attract the lure of the lightning, and get some sweet electrified body art in the process. New Music: fLako: Kuku EP Stream + Video
Listen to London producer fLako's intriguing new Chilean-soul influenced beats.. fLako - Dario Rojo Guerra - is a German-raised, London-based producer, with Chilean roots, that’s been making incredible, mystical and atmospheric music for a while now. International music tastemaker Gilles Peterson once rated fLako as the ‘most highly rated emerging producer’ out right now. For some reason though; he seems to keep a low profile most of the time; despite being up there with producers such as Lapalux, or Flying Lotus, when it comes to his talent for making wonky electronic tracks. However, that looks set to change; with a new EP out now, and debut full-length on the way. It’s been nearly three years since fLako’s last EP Eclosure, although we were lucky enough to get a big dose of fLako via his work on Eglo Records' singer Fatima’s debut album, Yellow Memories, that came out on Eglo, as well as the B Side on her incredible Family / La Neta 12” – Black Dough (listen HERE). New Music: Young Thug x Dizzee Rascal - I Luv Stoners (Oneman edit)
Oneman combines his two loves - gangsta rap and grime - into one incredible edit.. Three greats in perfect synergy - 100x yes! After premiering the track on Rinse FM a few weeks back, the inimitable DJ Oneman - who was in Australia just two weeks back (where he got really stuck into the, erm, finest food we have to offer) - has upped onto his Youtube his awesome edit of Young Thug's 2013 rap anthem Stoner, worked in with grime lord Dizzee Rascal's 2011 track I Luv U, off Dizzee's game-changing album Boy In Da Corner. The jittery pacing and metallic percussion of I Luv You perfectly sets off Thugga's spasmic bars, with the squelchy rudeboy bass contrasting nicely with Thug's singing towards the end. Listen below: Oneman recently did a half hour grime mix on RinseFM (featuring a Dizzee track, naturally) that's also well worth a listen: Dizzee, meanwhile, has been busy making some truly dope videos, that we wrote about below: Video - Dizzee Rascal, 'Pagans' Video - Dizzee Rascal, 'Coupl

#JDFutureLegends Presents: The Kite String Tangle Live Show Premiere
The Kite String Tangle is turning his live show up to god mode.. So yesterday we threw up a silly little thing on the old 'Book with our video man Tay Kaka and electronic wunderkind Danny Harley AKA The Kite String Tangle, fooling around in front of a green screen: Post by Pilerats.   And while we were having a laugh, the fruits of that assignment have been announced properly today, as we've been working closely with Danny Harley, Queensland design outfit IKONIX and Jack Daniel's to create the next #JDFutureLegends project - a brand new live show for one of this country's biggest electronic music acts, which will premiere in Melbourne later this month. Video: Purity Ring - Push / Pull
Purity Ring premiere the first video from their forthcoming 'Another Eternity' album.. We were awash with Purity Ring fever in December last year, when the Canadian duo released their first music in two years (since their 2012 album Shrines) with dreamy single Push / Pull, a track that, along with subsequent release Begin Again, demonstrated Purity Ring ability to make killer music is as strong as ever, and that has us hanging out for their sophomore release, Another Eternity, which is due out next month. A couple months on, Megan James and Corrin Roddick have just given us the visuals to accompany the track. The surreal video is directed by Renata Kaksha, and begins with Megan’s face enshrouded in darkness, before she tumbles through a cosmic ocean of purple and pink, in a visual echo of the track's lyrics: "A fever billowed with the wind / And I obeyed the sky therein." Dressed in a pink ostrich feathery-like dress, James weaves in and out of her own hair, before light begins to radi

Video: Peter Bibby - Stinkin' Rich [Pilerats Live Recording]
An acoustic version of one the standout tracks from Bibby's Hates My Boozin' album.. "When somebody mentions this 'Australia Sound' thing I don't think of the instrumental hip hop or chillwave that they're generally referring to, I think of people like Paul Kelly, Will Wagner & The Smith Street Band... and Peter Bibby. It's not just because they're singin' songs with our accent, it's the stories and on-stage banter that mostly defines that Aussie identity in music for me. Having been brought up in Perth's eastern suburbs, worked as a plasterer and busking for a little bit, he's seen enough of the real suburban Australia to project us a little more genuinely to the world than theatrics like Croc Dundee - and coming from the same circles of talent as world beating Perth bands like Tame Impala and Pond, I can't help but feel the number on Peter's ticket out of here is about to be called." The above is an excerpt from our beloved magazine in regards to an article about Peter Bibby, and lik

One Night With: Kittens
Some slinky rap jams ahead of Kittens' Australian tour.. Lauren 'KITTENS' Abedini has gone from DJing in her bedroom to touring with Kid Cudi, performing with Chief Keef, DJing for Usher and starting LA's most exciting club collective ATHLETIXX - a crew consisting of herself, DJ Hoodboi, Falcons and Promnite. Rocking a special blend of genres from hip hop, trap, future bass, obscure club and more, she's hitting Australia for a run of shows starting February 12, check the dates once you've traversed through a night of tunes with Kittens: "FYI U GUYS: All of these answers are basically hip hop related. While most of my sets are made up of mostly dance music or some form of electronic stuff (whatever you wanna call it), my foundation and heart are married to the rap game lol. So it only makes sense that the most important highlighting tracks of my sets have some connection to that." Numero Uno – What are we starting with? This always depends on a few things. The event, what time I’m playi
