Courtney Love just doesn't understand Beyonce and Jay-Z

"We’d run through a song once, then record it and say, ‘How’s that? Great. Let’s keep going.'"

Judging from the rapper’s fearless performance this evening, she obviously intends to move from the shadow of the song as soon as she possibly can.

It’s a shame that Minaj can’t successfully balance her gritty rap side with her pop persona, as at her best tonight – such as during the fearsome rendition of her verse from Kanye West’s Monster – she’s an arresting and imposing presence.

It’s very Leigh Bowery-cum-Rock Eisteddfod.
