Delta’s experimentation would be irrelevant if the band had delivered sufficiently crafted songs. Unfortunately, everything feels half-complete and slapped together.

"All my other albums had multiple producers. This record was the first time I’ve worked with one producer from start to finish."

You never really get to hear Miller-Heidke’s incredible voice sit within the St John’s Cathedral acoustics. It’s either loud to the point of almost distorting or hidden beneath artificial delays. Which is disappointing.

In spite of the suggestions of the premise, Blindscape’s audiences aren’t really free to navigate very far either within the realms of their soundscape or the venue and the strictures grow boring. It’s hard not to be excited by the potential of the concept, though.

"Some of the tunes have definitely been in the works for about that long. We kept the approach pretty fresh, though."

For the most part, Save Rock And Roll is a bold and audacious step forward for a great pop outfit.

"It could have gone further. It didn’t. Fortunately, it will. It’s still alive today, fortunately. We’re carrying on."
