Album Review: We Are The Ocean - Ark

The opening and title track for We Are The Ocean’s fourth studio album sets the scene for a heart-aching and soul-lifting experience that carries throughout the record.

Overpowering drums are layered with male and female harmonies, giving the entire album an edgy rock feel with catchy choruses that have strayed far from the band’s previous post-hardcore work. It’s reminiscent of Arctic Monkey’s AM, capturing their after-dark antics and spiralling thoughts that cohesively translate each song into a story. The inclusion of the acoustic ballad Letter To Michael shows the band’s versatility.
