Live Review: Tuxedo 'R U Ready' (Official Video)

Everyone wishes their peak dancing years were lived out in the 70’s disco funk era. TUXEDO must be acutely aware of this.

Everyone wishes their peak dancing years were lived out in a better time. And what better time than the 70’s disco funk era where all video clips involved an awkwardly moving band in a studio. TUXEDO must be acutely aware of this, as they have brought us their latest clip, ‘R U Ready’ to answer all your disco prayers.

If you love the idea of a babe in a gold sparkly onesie singing back-up vocals and playing a Tambourine perfectly, awkward swaying and bopping, and white tuxedo jackets (and to be honest, who the hell doesn’t love these things?) then you are in for a real treat. Tuxedo have served up exactly this in full VHS quality. Camera angles are off, nothing is quite in sync and yet the video for ‘R U Ready’ is pure magic.

The song itself screams 70’s disco funk, however there is an electro pulse flowing through the veins of ‘R U Ready’ like the future of roller disco depends on it. The mood of the track could easily be classed as easy listening or 'get up and jive'... So the best listening situation is probably peak hour driving so you can launch into either as the mood takes you.

Tuxedo Funk’s (AKA Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One) debut album is out now. If you are looking for something a bit different then this is well worth a listen.
