Whilst we're on the subject of Valentines Day, it looks like we forgot a present that was sent to us (aka everyone) from all around lovlies - THE XX.

Whilst you were off smooching your partner or attempting to pick up at some terrible Valentines Day club night or even wallowing in self-pity. The xx were busy uploading a special video for all their beloved fans who would probably give up their date for one night alone with the British triplet.

The video is a live performance of Beyonce's 'I Miss You', recorded in Austin, Texas on the 12th Feb. The original is a heartfelt 'show your skin' kind of deal, which probably isn't too surprising considering it was first penned for the pop superstar by the sometimes-love-torn, Frank Ocean. It's a painful account into love, one that builds upon opening calmness into layers of intensified screams.

The xx however, have stripped the song back to it's core - transforming it into a beautiful whispering ballad. As a duet, both Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim intertwine the powerful vocals with melancholic guitars. It's pretty common for a creation from these guys - but it doesn't mean it's not beautiful.

A cover should bring out a new life within a track, and that is exactly what The xx have done with 'I Miss You'. And for those of you lucky enough to get tickets to their upcoming Australian tour - maybe you should look out for this one in their setlists...
