Live Review: Taste Nasa ‘Time Goes By’ (Official Video)

TASTE NASA, the project of New Zealand local Leroy Clampitt, has a new single. And the video for it gives off as much of an 80's vibe as his sound does.

There’s been a real 80’s revival happening over the course of late 2014-now. It’s been well awaited and more often than not, very well received too.

TASTE NASA, the project of New Zealand local Leroy Clampitt, has got this down pat, and it’s his stunning blend of 80’s synth pop that clashes ironically well with his careful eye for mastery.

I fell in love with ‘Time Goes By’ at first listen. It wasn’t just the 80’s tones that took me to another era, it was the way in which the vocals ultimately shape the progression of the track, and it’s the light touches too.

There’s a tinge of gorgeous, high octave piano chords that chime at just the right moment within the track. It’s got a bass line that made my room shake and should definitely be deemed illegal.

The sax line at the end however just rounds this one off for me. It’s crisp, smooth and extremely sexy.

The video takes a more comical approach, highlighting the big-wig antics of an industry photographer, and it takes us on his journey as he lusts, shows off and ultimately soundtracks this song.

Taste Nasa is onto something here, and if ‘Time Goes By’ is any indication of the direction he’s heading, I’m keen to hear more.
