Directed by John Merizalde, who was born and raised in Atlanta, the video features the iconic Cascade skating rink, a legendary part of the city. The video for ‘Holding Back’ is almost like both a documentary and a tribute to the unity, freedom and genuine subculture Cascade has been harvesting for generations.
Cascade is like the skating rinks of your childhood, but better because it’s like images you dream up from old school movies.. It’s a social hub, which according to the video can see 1200 people grooving and cruising on the weekend from doctors with their kids to drug dealers, all united to skate, and dance. They literally have crews who do their thing, on wheels. It’s a place for teenagers to hang, dates to happen, and pinball to be played, a place of expression, where no one holds back.

The video flows effortlessly, with the skaters genuinely conveying the vibe of the place, while gliding around, fitting in perfectly with the smooth sounds and vocals of the track. Regardless of how good your music is, it’s a saturated world for both tunes and clips, but this is definitely one of the most unique videos you will slap your eyes on this year.
