RAT & CO have released this brand new music video for their track, 'Samurai'. Main man Josh Delaney comments that the track reminded him of Miyamoto Musashi, his favourite Japanese historical character who's the most famous swordsmen in Japan's history.
Directed by Ribal Swang, the video takes place in Tokyo at what's said to be one of the world's busiest crossings, the Shibuya Crossing. The clip doesn't variate much in terms of visual display; beginning as it fades into a buzzing vision of a busy intersection, with blocks of pedestrians and cars moving in backwards motion across the screen as the song's main vocal sample stutters in.
But as the drum chugs along, with the fluidity of overlying synths, gliding guitar and the faintest of vocal 'ooohhs', the constant play with reverse footage and speed rate is soothing rather than jarring in terms of complimenting the ethereal tones of 'Samurai'. Though the video is a simple recording of the ordinary with minor tweaks, it sheds a new light on what we see as mere everyday life in motion.
