A few weeks after the collaborative genius of MALLRAT and TIGERILLA bought the track ‘Suicide Blonde’ to our airwaves, the “Hannah Montana of Rap” aka 16 year old Mallrat has put together a video for her debut track.
The video is a bootleg combination of images, animation and film, all compiled from Mallrat’s very cool tumblr (seriously, the theme is enviable), it’s nice to know Tumblr is still cool with the kids. It seems to have a heavy 90’s influence with Cher from Clueless making an appearance.
The clip covers a bit of everything, and follows the themes and lyrics of the song well. In talking about problems with addiction and overdosing there is a beautiful glimpse of Leonardo Dicaprio from Romeo and Juliet. A stunning 90’s clip of Angelina Jolie features, all the while the clip jumps between images of both beauty and beautiful destruction, often centred around flowers, something which is always so beautiful until they shrivel up.
Mallrat is a multi-talented individual. Having edited this video together herself the singer, songwriter, rapper and producer is currently working on her debut EP with Tigerilla, which is due out later this year. Keep your eyes on that Tumblr!
