Live Review: Watch Grimes and Ashnikko traverse time and space in the video for new single 'Cry'

Ashnikko has tapped the one and only Grimes for her new single, 'Cry', and a special anime video that sees them traverse time and space.

Rising TikTok star ASHNIKKO has tapped none other than GRIMES for her new single, 'Cry', alongside an action-packed anime video.

Sitting somewhere in between pop and rap, Ashnikko has seen massive success recently thanks to her single 'Stupid' going viral on TikTok following the release of her EP Hi, It's Me in 2019. 'Cry' marks the first release from Grimes after her critically acclaimed, fan-adored album earlier this year, Miss Anthropocene.

All about the end of a friendship and processing a betrayal, the song is an aggressive, hard-hitting affair. Ashnikko's fury is palpable as she sings "this could get gruesome," while Grimes keeps things extraterrestrial with her ethereal vocals. The clip perfectly captures this in an intense way with Mike Anderson in the director's seat. The CGI characters of the two artists continue to mutate and morph through time and space, before a demonised Ashnikko finally descends on her prey.

Speaking of her new single, Ashnikko said in a statement, "I have wanted to work with Grimes for 100 million years and now it's happening…a dream! She is singing with me on an angry ass song about my ex-best friend sleeping with my boyfriend…sublime!!!” Grimes herself added, “Ashnikko rules and the song is great!"
