CITY CALM DOWN have been talked about quite a lot lately, and it’s not hard to see why! The four-piece Melbourne act signed to I OH YOU earlier this year and not long after that, announced an EP due for release on November 2.
Then the band announced a launch tour for their EP Movements beginning in early November and so now, it seems the boys have their hands full.
We spoke to synth wizard Sam Mulally not too long ago, and we coincidentally caught the talented musician and graphic designer, as he was editing the music video for their single ‘Pleasure & Concequence’. Now the video for the single that has created so much hype for CITY CALM DOWN has finally been released.
The video is very simple, shown in black and white with the band playing their music in a white, empty apartment space. It’s great that the music video is so simple because it means that the music that the band have spent so much time fine tuning, is highlighted and after all, isn’t that why we love CITY CALM DOWN? There are a few small special effects added into the clip such as scenes shots fading in on top of each other creating an almost ghost-like effect, but it’s definitely more of a musically driven clip.
The band’s Movements EP launch tour begins in Melbourne on November 3 and then travels to Sydney on November 8 and as you can see, CITY CALM DOWN will definitely be a band worth checking out. The much anticipated EP is released on November 2 so it’s only a small wait before Australia can own a piece of the best new electronic-rock band coming out of the close-knit Melbourne music scene. So breathe everyone, just breathe!
