Citizens video for 'True Romance' is awkward yet euphoric, in much the same way as a first kiss. Note: best listened to with a kissing buddy.
Here's a sound piece of advice: don't watch this video if you're not within grabbing reach of a kissing partner. I made the mistake of watching it on my phone while I was making my way home and by the time it was done I literally had to use every single ounce of energy I had not to pounce on the first person I saw and stick my tongue passionately down their throat.
CITIZENS! are no strangers to making their audiences feel tingly and awkward. Their music is always upbeat with an edge, and their videos are no different. But there is something more endearing about this single. It's not as uber cool or untouchable as their previous offerings. It's a little more... inviting.

You know what it is? I think this video does feel a little like a first kiss.
At first you just fumble your way along, not quite sure what's happening or what you're meant to do, but the upbeat rhythm of the song assures you that you are in fact enjoying yourself despite feeling a little awkward. By the time the chorus hits, your eyes are closed, your lips are stinging and your hands are all over this person's ass. You have blissfully forgotten what day it is as you bop along to the beat with your eyes shut and your heart open.
And when you finally come up for air and it's all over, you're left feeling euphoric, a little unsatisfied and totally keen for more.
