‘I Have To Go Rogue Every Single Time’: Peach PRC Reflects On The Past As She Steps Into Her New Era

Live Review: Alyx Dennison 'I Don't Love You Anymore' (Official Video)

Alyx Dennison has released her debut album's first single (and accompanying clip) titled 'I Don't Love You Anymore'.

We know that Freya Berkhout of experimental pop duo KYÜ went on to start her band Gnome, so what has the other half been up to? Working as an eponymous artist, ALYX DENNISON has been writing music as a solo musician. With her debut album due out very soon, check out its first single, 'I Don't Love You Anymore'.

Usually tracks that begin with a reserved, minimalistic and down tempo approach work their way into something much more profound without wasting too much time - but usually doesn't mean always. Fostering a hollow drumbeat against the gorgeous vocal range of Dennison's voice, we don't actually hear anything further than this until about halfway through, and even then it's only a very subtle addition of vocal sampling and an underlying harmony. Practising the idea that patience is a virtue, we eventually experience an abundance of percussion domesticate itself within the walls of 'I Don't Love You Anymore'.

Having released the track with an accompanying film clip, the lyricism becomes more focal, as we watch Alyx Dennison sing it straight to the camera. Allowing a mixed bag of emotion, the singer-songwriter leads the clip in a half-goofy, half-serious manner; due to a change of heart when crafting the clip. Initially documenting a straight-forward, serious expression, Alyx found difficulty inhabiting such a demeanour, so she attempted loosening up by pulling faces and such to rid her awkward approach. Finding that this suited the nature of the song better, director Harry Aronsten decided to utilise the footage. Coupling the playfulness and intensity of the singer's delivery, the clip itself has been styled to look washed out in the most elegant way; resulting in a characteristic, feminine piece of art.

Alyx Dennison will release her self-titled debut album in August via Popfrenzy Records.
