Album Review: Vancouver Sleep Clinic - Revival

StarStarStar

"A matured refinement of Bettinson's sound."

More Vancouver Sleep Clinic Vancouver Sleep Clinic Profile

Vancouver Sleep Clinic (the solo project of Tim Bettinson) is back with ambient and lush soundscapes on his debut album, Revival.

Bettinson taps into different genres and styles, keeping Revival diverse and interesting while his soothing falsetto vocals work to tie the album together. His level of production and extensive incorporation of electronic elements help to separate him from other contemporary folk artists like Bon Iver - an otherwise obvious comparison. Highlights include Someone To Stay, Lung and the instrumental, crescendoing title track that closes the album.

Revival is a step up from Vancouver Sleep Clinic's debut EP Winter - a matured refinement of Bettinson's sound.
