The night all triple j groupies wished for arrived last Thursday: the triple j House Party. Capitol was filled with indie wannabes wanting to see the latest acts in dance, probably dressing in something they wouldn't dare to wear in normal daylight hours, but hey, who doesn't like to please a crowd?
First off the bat was Wave Racer playing a DJ set full of EDM tracks and original hits such as Rock You Tonite. He debuted a new remix, which is due out next month. Wave Racer got the ball rolling, pumping the boys and girls for the future acts of the night. Cassian was next with more of a dance party collection of songs rather than a 'let's dance like munted lunatics' swag of tunes. His mix caused an internal combustion on the dancefloor, taking the crowd's energy up another level.
Tyler Touché, a 16-year-old Brisbane DJ, wowed audiences with his French inspired set. His music attracted a few sneaky people onto the stage and security didn't do a thing about it. He is going to be doing great things in the future. However, the teenager's slot was a bit too long and people were becoming restless, too excited for the main act, Flight Facilities. So after what it seemed forever to a boozed crowd watching Tyler Touché's DJ set, Flight Facilities came on stage. The duo's mix seemed to intoxicate the audience further due to their name and not their music. DJ Alison Wonderland made a cameo appearance on stage dancing around with the rest of the artists. Songs like Crave You and I Didn't Believe were played with a little remix of their own.
Last on the decks for the night was Nina Las Vegas, who played the classic triple j tunes and kept the crowd going until the end. The night was filled with predictable mixes and music you could hear on the national broadcaster right now. However, the crowd didn't mind; after all, triple j created the entire event.
