Album Review: Torres - Sprinter

"Sprinter spends its nine songs in equal shades of dark and light"

2015 is fast becoming a cracker of a year in terms of amazing music.

Mackenzie Scott, under the guise Torres, is just the latest to throw her hat into the ring with a full and ambitious follow-up to her under-appreciated self-titled 2013 debut. Unafraid to use her powerful voice, yet aware of the impact her brooding moments have on the listener, Sprinter spends its nine songs in equal shades of dark and light. There’s more than a hint of PJ Harvey in Torres’ sound (Robert Ellis of that band co-produced this record), and Sprinter is simply brilliant.
