"Tora's tunes are very chilled, perfect to get mellow to with friends."
Perth five-piece Our Man In Berlin warmed up the humble crowd, announcing it was their last gig for a few months as vocalist Hayden Mansell was becoming a dad. The guys launched into Lonely Arms from their Is It Right? EP, before dedicating Airhead to West Coast Eagle Nic Naitanui for the recent win. The distorted guitars and electro tunes filled the atmosphere as Mansell's smooth vocals tantalised the crowd with Muster and Bones, which saw a few more bodies joining the dancefloor to move to the hypnotic beats.
The smell of fresh-hot fries lingered in the air and the crowd grew chattier as they waited for Byron Bay boys Tora to take the stage. Lights dimmed and Tora launched into an unknown new track that got the crowd bobbing before chillwave tune Eat The Sun took over Slims.
Slow smooth electro-beats and gentle vocals in Due To Lies was a softer side to the hypnotic sounds. Things got dreamy and a little oriental in Get Like It, while Capitalism from the band's self-titled EP saw lead vocalist Jo Loewenthal serenade the crowd with his incredible vocals.
Loewenthal explained the high the band is still on after touring with RUFUS in April, and that they didn't expect so much love from Perth. This sent the crowd squealing with delight before the guys launched into single Poly Amor. Jaigantic seduced the soul with its soft slow beats and sweet lyrics, before new, never before played track Mercury sent the crowd into a chilled groove of swaying drunk bodies.

The crowd was chatty during the whole set, but no one can blame them. Tora's tunes are very chilled, perfect to get mellow to with friends. Electro guitars and synths took Sugar Snap to a fun funky place, as Loewenthal danced to his own beat, as if he was lost in the music and the crowd didn't exist.
Synthesiser Tobias Tsounis' mellow vocals got the crowd pumping with explicit lyrics, as he replaced Merryn Jeann's vocals in Never With Me. With the set almost over, the guys launched into Overcome before they took a few snaps of the crowd who went wild with screams and hands in the air. The chants for an encore were heard loud and clear, with the guys playing Calming Her to finish off a chilled out set to a hungry, chatty crowd.
