The Thrilling Adventure Hour

"The Thrilling Adventure Hour’s fresh take on 1940s radio drama mixed old-timey charm with contemporary comic flair"

The Thrilling Adventure Hour’s fresh take on 1940s radio drama mixed old-timey charm with contemporary comic flair.

With help from a live orchestra and a handful of game celebrity guests, the star-studded Workjuice Players transported the audience of loyal fans (and curious newcomers) to distant planets, a haunted bed-and-breakfast and to the mythical hobo paradise of Moonshine Holler. Each of the ensemble cast had more than their share of highlights, but Paul F Tompkins’ wry improvisations particularly served the group’s undeniable chemistry. Beyond the full-tilt belly-laughter, though, writers Acker & Blacker’s scripts wrung real emotional truth out of characters who’ve only ripened after ten years of development.
