"[They] let their expertise do the talking in guitar and motif-laden tracks."

More The Mute Gods More The Mute Gods

Prog nerds rejoice, a veritable superband of genre heavyweights has come together to release 11 tracks that celebrate and capitalise on their smorgasbord of skills.

Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson, Lifesigns), Roger King (Steve Hackett) and Marco Minnemann (Joe Satriani) let their expertise do the talking in guitar and motif-laden tracks (Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me, Feed The Troll). It's often more standard rock than prog (Praying To A Mute God, Father Daughter), but Your Dark Ideas and In The Crosshairs give way to keys embellishments and solo indulgences. Nightschool For Idiots and Last Man On Earth are just far too plodding to take on the album's gems.
