"The five tracks here indicate The Districts belong somewhere between those two bands, not simply in terms of genre, but of the potential this EP demonstrates."
Something quite indefinable presents itself when listening to The Districts, the eponymous debut from this Pennsylvania four-piece. There's an instant familiarity to their sound, a ramshackle approach to rock'n'roll that's devoid of pomp or pretence. Yet something in their take on some otherwise pretty straight-up rock tunes has never been done before. Dr Dog and Kings Of Leon presided over similar sounds, which is fitting given the five tracks here indicate The Districts belong somewhere between those two bands, not simply in terms of genre, but of the potential this EP demonstrates. More please.
