Album Review: The Demon Drink - Highway Robbery

StarStarStarStar

"The entirety of the tracklist is entrenched in a bluesy and unrelenting toe-tapping vibe."

They may only just be releasing their debut album, Highway Robbery, but The Demon Drink already have the sound of a bona fide classic.

From this album, it's clear to see how refined their sound is. The entirety of the tracklist is entrenched in a bluesy and unrelenting toe-tapping vibe. Before long, opening track She Looked Like You cements the quintet as experts of the delicate roughness that is country-rock.

Someone That You Screw moves the tone into a slow and sultry territory but Pray For Rain is the standout. From the smooth integration of a didgeridoo throughout the track, it's clear this band will be making waves in the Australian rock scene.
