The AntlersPeter Silberman could sing about burning toast and it'd break your heart. Luckily he's only singing about finding inner peace by anthropomorphising concepts learned from Tibetan Book Of The Dead on The Antlers' stellar fifth release Familiars. Their usual ultra-lush arrangements are omnipresent, but there's a newfound levity surrounding them, and it's a far more re-listenable experience than their last two records (absolutely crushing excursions into sombre twilit beauty). Despite the lift in mood, the album is still an exquisitely emotional ride that features gorgeous passages of dense noise art, with production handled economically by Chris Coady.
