"An accessible brand of smooth, psych-tinged indie which charms without ever challenging."

More Sunflower Bean More Sunflower Bean

Human Ceremony is the debut from smoking hot New York City buzz trio Sunflower Bean, purveyors of an accessible brand of smooth, psych-tinged indie which charms without ever challenging.

Bassist Julia Cumming's vocals take centre stage, but intersect nicely at certain junctures with those of Nick Kivlen (guitars). They claim widespread influences, from metal through classic rock, and it's definitely the heavier depths that suit best. Crunchy songs such as I Was Home, Wall Watcher and the propulsive 2013 sidling alongside poppy single Easier Said as the album's most memorable moments.
