Steen Raskopoulos: You Know The Drill

4 May 2016 | 4:10 pm | Hannah Story

"Steen Raskopoulos is the foremost sketch comic in the country."

Steen Raskopoulos is the foremost sketch comic in the country. He is also our favourite. Raskopoulos approaches audience participation and sketches that are funny, heart-warming, and sometimes emotionally wrenching (Little Timmy, we love you), from a place of joy and fun, and it's impossible not to get caught up in it, whether you're dragged on stage or just a part of the audience. We're giggling from the get-go when he emerges on stage as a relentlessly positive and complimentary drill sergeant.

Raskopoulos becomes more playful every year - this time baiting three audience members in the first row with a ping pong ball for later use: "You'll know when," he says, and then emerges with table tennis rackets, or as a laughing clown, only to admonish them for choosing the wrong moment, and choosing to skip "the best sketch in the show". There's callbacks to earlier in the show, and to the shows of years past, and a cameo from The Mighty Boosh's Rich Fulcher as the opening and closing voiceover. Must see.
