"12 seconds in and you've got no idea what you're getting yourself into."

12 seconds in and you've got no idea what you're getting yourself into.

The horn section is cruisy enough, but until Paul Janeway opens his mouth there's nothing too exciting here. Of course, by album's end, Janeway has hooked you in - his vocals burning a hole in each of your ears. There a moments such as during the climax of Grass Is Greener that it all gets a bit overwhelming, and the band don't get a chance to come out of Janeway's shadow, which is a shame. For the most part, though, St Paul & The Broken Bones get Half The City right.
