Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: I Oh You DJs

SCOTT ARMSTRONG is the man behind the curation of the I OH YOU blog and their famous 'FROTH OF THE DAY' series. More often than not you can catch him at the helm of I OH YOU DJ sets across the country.

It all started way back in 2009. Four Melbourne housemates throw a big house party to raise funds for an overdue gas bill; the bash is a huge hit with punters (and local police); the housemates realize that throwing parties is probably the most fun way to pay for utilities; and I OH YOU is born.

Once contained within a share house, I OH YOU has spread across Australia, throwing more wild parties, touring international talent (SLEIGH BELLS, EARLWOLF, TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS) and putting out local artists, including SNAKADAKTAL, DZ DEATHRAYS and VIOLENT SOHO via I OH YOU Records.

The I OH YOU blog gives a sneak peek into the musical passions and obsessions behind this frenzy of activity. With exclusive features on new sounds from around the globe, the blog has shaped the tastes of savvy listeners and become an influential voice in the Australian music scene.

Now, I OH YOU are showing off this eclectic expertise, using their ear for a big tune to play DJ sets at festivals and parties across the country.

There are two sides to I OH YOU DJs. The first is a party monster—hands-in-the-air, anything-goes anthem-dropping to sweaty dance floors. The second is a tastemaker—keeping bodies moving on carefully curated trips through fresh sounds and new obsessions. Just ask crowds from Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival and Parklife... whatever mode they’re in, they keep the party going like they need to pay a gas bill.
