Ahead of his set at Summer Dance alongside Honey Dijon, Dan Shake, Project Pablo and Adi Toohey, Fortune Taylor serves up some of his favourite tracks

Summer is here, and with it, the urge to dance the day away with great music and even better vibes gets stronger and stronger. If you're Sydney-side, by now when you think of summer plans, you think of Summer Dance - the multi-part series curated by Astral People that brings together like-minded people from across the city to boogie down on a Sunday arvo with an all-killer, no-filler line up every time.

This year is no different, with the Astral crew once again doing what they do best, and throwing a fantastic party at the National Art School in Darlinghurst. What was already a huge line up with Dan ShakeProject PabloAdi Toohey and Fortune Taylor has now blown us out of the water with the addition of the legendary HONEY DIJON, and it's all going down this Sunday from 3pm.

As you can imagine, our excitement is at a critical level ahead of this event, and tickets are unsurprisingly flying out the door. But, if you still needed a little extra persuasion to spend your Sunday the right way at Summer Dance, you're in luck. Fortune Taylor, who'll be kicking things off on the day, has put together a special playlist of his favourite tunes for sunny dance floors. Having pledge a set full of deep dance grooves, obscure boogie and a collective of feel-good bits inspired from all over the world, you can expect Taylor to get you moving in no time at all. A tune from a forthcoming record on Ken Oath, a Sydney label with a stack of cool releases in their catalogue already. This one would warm a sunny dance floor nicely.

First heard these guys at Inner Varnika last year then went home and bought this album straight away. This track especially stuck in my head. Another one to play as the people are trickling in and get settled.

Heavy hitting funk out of Italy. What’s not to like about this tune?

Multiple tracks on this EP could do the trick; it’s hard to pick a favourite.

It’s hard to go past the voice of Peven Everett when thinking about music for a sunny dance floor. This is just one of many gems!

Recently reissued on 12” with this KON remix, definitely a favourite of mine from 2017. Feels good.

I bought this at Licorice Pie Records in Melbourne during a recent trip. After finally getting a chance to visit this store I can safely say it’s my favourite one down there.

A sensible edit by Tim McAllister, leaving the original mostly intact while giving it a slightly more ‘dancey’ edge.

Crazy stuff from GU, a classic tune. If this one doesn’t’t get feet moving then best to throw in the towel.

A classy remix that does justice to this classic tune by Nina Simone. Ideally played as sunset approaches.
