"Props to Livingston for combining different genres into one album — but it wasn't balanced well."

More Son Little More Son Little

Son Little's debut album explores different elements of vintage-soul, acoustic blues, electro and hip hop.

Opener I'm Gone has a Buddhist meditation feel to it before being taken over by Aaron Livingston's electro vocals. Lay Down is beautiful soul-blues, with acoustic guitars complemented by Livingston's deep dreamy vocals that make you lose yourself in the melody and lyrics: "Baby won't you lay down." Go Blue Blood Red starts with an almost horror movie-style electro keyboard riff before flowing into a hip hop beat. Props to Livingston for combining different genres into one album — but it wasn't balanced well, giving the album a disconnected feel and flow.
